Recycle at Rice-Eccles! Go Utes!

Everybody check this out.

Photobucket

According to the website:
Rice-Eccles Stadium at the University of Utah produces over 8 TONS of garbage per game with a recycling program that just isn't working. While recycling bins are put out, they are either empty or contaminated with trash. The clean up crews who clean up the stands after the game also don't recycle and we would like to change this. We support decreasing the amount of waste produced at U of U football games and implement recycling into the cleaning contracts!

Click the link above to sign the petition to add a recycling program to Rice-Eccles Stadium. Thanks!

Today's the day.

Good things have happened since my last post, guys. Good. things.

Photobucket

- Celebrating Brandon's birthday almost three weeks late. We're the best, ever.

- Soul Surfer with our sisters Bekah & Kenzie. Good movie. Go see it. Bring tissues.

- A&W Ice cream. Yum.

- Lots of Photoshoppin' awesomeness.

- Internet is officially in this household. Thank-freaking-goodness.

- Fixed my summer school schedule:
First Block - May 9 - June 24
Tuesday & Thursday
10:30 AM ... Intro to Environmental Management (Physical Science credit 1)
1:30 PM ... Intro to Music (Fine Arts credit)
Second Block - June 27 - August 12
Tuesday & Thursday
7:30 AM ... Intro to Geology (Physical Science credit 2)
10:30 AM ... Concepts of Stress Management (For my major - YAY!)

- And my Fall schedule (Registration is tomorrow!!):
Monday, Wednesday, Friday
8:00 AM ... Drugs, Behavior, & Society
9:00 AM ... Anatomy & Physiology
10:00 AM ... International Relations of the East Asia
11:00 AM ... First Aid (Monday/Wednesday only)
12:00 PM ... Race & Minority Relations
1:00 PM ... Human Sexuality

** Obviously, since I can't register until tomorrow, I may not be able to get into everything I want, so this schedule could definitely change. Also, seventeen credits is a LOT so I may decide to drop a class but I'd rather register for everything and then drop something, as opposed to not registering for something and trying to get in later.. Make sense? ;) Good.

- ALSO... I got a job today! A temporary one - Which is perfect.. I just need something to get by this next month before I get my car back & can get a real job that I actually want ;) So, until May 1-ish, I'll be working at the UVU Bookstore. Not too shabby, folks.

Anyway, I thought I'd just add this picture because I think it's hilarious. & look at this girl - She's just so dang cute, right?!

FOOD!

Okay guys, first look at these. I'm a sucker for a good cupcake. Last night another student in my class even brought cupcakes for HER birthday & how could I turn them down? Buuuut, these are ones I made - & they weren't half bad, if I do say so myself...

Photobucket
Okay, how good do these look? Strawberry cake with cream cheese frosting & fresh strawberries on top.. Mmmmmm.

Photobucket
Also, these! Super, super rich. & super, super delicious. Be jealous.

Okay, okay. Done with the sugar! Look at these:
Photobucket
Peach yogurt with granola, fresh bananas, frozen raspberries, & sliced-up peaches. To. Die. For.

Photobucket
Spinach leaves with fresh strawberries, pineapple, & cashews on top

Okay, okay... So, even though those cupcakes WERE delicious... I have to say, I really do like eating healthy food.

First: I feel five hundred times better when I eat stuff like that.
Second: It's freakin' good.
Third: I know this is so typical, but I seriously have way more energy & motivation to do things..

I'd much rather put healthy food into my body than eat a ton of sugar and frozen junk... Go ahead & call me a health nut BUT.. You'll be wrong! I've realized that it really is hard as a college student. It's way cheaper to buy a 50 cent package of Top Ramen or somethin' but it's more expensive & takes more effort to buy fruit n' stuff. I think I've forgotten how much I LOVE eating healthy. LOVE, with a capital L. So, I think I'm gonna start again. Yeah? Sounds good to me.

Awkward & Awesome Thursday

So, thanks to Sydney of The Daybook, today is the first of many "Awkward & Awesome Thursdays" ... Here goes nothin':

Photobucket

Awkward

- The way my nose looks 10 times too big for my face in this picture.

- Stepping onto the elevator at school with only one other person for five slow floors. If that wasn’t bad enough, saying “Hi” to him, and having said boy stare at me aaaaaall the way from the first floor to the fifth without saying a single word. Longest elevator-ride of my life, I kid you not.

- Walking from one end to the other of the “silent” floor of the crowded library with squeaky red shoes so everyone looks at me and THEN tripping so my bag made a big “THUD” as I sat down. Great.

- Waking up late, then proceeding to run out barefoot to Savannah’s car as she picked me up for school half-dressed, carrying my shoes, tangled necklaces, laptop-outside-of-case, and schoolbag down the rainy driveway…

- Getting home to find a strange man sleeping on our living room couch in the middle of the night with all the lights off and my roommates already in bed. ??

- Tonight’s Biology test. Not awkward. Just awful.

Awesome

- Leaving my wallet in the Hall of Flags & finding out it was turned into the Lost & Found. Thank you, kind stranger!

- The reeeeeally comfy couches my tush is sitting on at the bookstore. I’m telling you… These babies are the BEST.

- Having Brandon bring me his hoodie because he knew I’d be cold (I’m ALWAYS cold). Maybe the boyfriend-bringing-the-girlfriend-a-hoodie thing is a little cliché, but maybe I don’t even care – It’s awesome.

- We are getting internet Saturday!!!!

- I just requested for like… 3829084 catalogs from some of my favorite stores to be sent to my house. Just because I like looking through them & I like getting mail. Win-win.

Also. Weatherman says it’s gonna be stormy this weekend… After I catch up on all my homework, I plan on cuddling up in my PJ’s for some hot cocoa & good ol’ fashioned movie night & doing practically nothing else.

Sometimes I do stupid things.

Okay, here's the thing. Sometimes a girl is stuck in the library without a mirror & she needs to do her makeup.. Also, sometimes her computer has a webcam. (for those of you who are still confused, a webcam can work JUST as well as a normal mirror!)

Photobucket

So, good idea, right? Until, as is shown in the last picture, a random little kid notices what you're doing & stops by the study room door to gawk at you. Who invited the five year old to the library, anyway?

xo. :)

Oh, P.S. !!!!!! Campus Police has my wallet! Thank goodness! As for right now, the phone is still lost.. But, I'm at least one step closer and I still have my identity intact. Phew!

Please excuse me while I vent.

Dear Bloggers,

First of all, it's been a really crazy week - Let's just say, I'm completely overwhelmed. As of last week, I was internet-less, car-less, and job-less. AND I haven't been sleeping very well at all because of stress & lots of freakish nightmares. Which, I've so far been able to handle just fine, as I'm within walking-distance of the school, where there's internet, where I can blog, Facebook, study, work on online classes, etc.. All on my own time... & I've been able to make up for some of the sleep I've been lacking.. & well, I've been just really grateful for all of that, really.

HOWEVER... . . . .

Problem #1: Including this week, there are about three weeks left until finals. Meaning makeup work, late work, big assignments, last-minute extra credit, tests, more tests, & final exams. PHEW! If that's not enough to throw the average college student into a crazy whirlwind of stress, I really don't know what to tell you - & you're probably reading the wrong blog.

Problem #2: SOMEHOW, my phone has simply disappeared into thin air.. For a blogging, job-searching, Facebook-crazed, only-form-of-communication-with-anyone maniac like myself, that's a very big deal. Even with 8 of us searching constantly for a good, solid hour (or two..), the phone is still nowhere to be found. Oh, did I mention it's completely dead? Whoops.

Problem #3: While sitting in the Hall of Flags minding my own business (& ordering Cafe Rio online via my delicious free meal card), I apparently left my wallet sitting right there, on the poor little green chair. Or.. Somewhere? I guess that's the problem. It's somewhere, with someone, completely unknown to me. Of course I didn't notice this until a good hour or two after I left that spot, and of course it wasn't there when we went back to look.. So, we're calling Campus Police in the morning & hopefully it will turn up!

So, anyway. You can go ahead and gouge out my eyes, cut off my limbs, & throw me into a pond or something. Feel free.

Okay. That's dramatic. I'm done with the drama, done with the venting - & for those of you still reading, thanks for putting up with this. I still have my computer.. Which, at the moment, is my lifeline. & today I got some REALLY, really good news which I probably wouldn't trade for anything, including internet, my car, my wallet, & my phone. Combined. & of course, really amazing people to keep me sane.. So thank you - Especially to my mom, Brandon, Bekah, & Savannah.. Not to mention the Kasteler fam for looking all over for my phone! Ah! I still have a lot to be happy about, really. It's just been one of those weeks, I s'pose.

Sorry for the lack of pictures, or really anything that anyone would want to read, ever. Next post will be 100x better. Swear on my life.

xo. :)

I could be in love with UVU.

So, we're down to less than a month left of the semester.. Finals week starts on the 25th! Yikes! Anyway, I've realized that I actually really love UVU. Love. So... If anyone is thinking about coming down here for school, seriously, just.. do it. It's great.
Photobucket
It's official! Changing my major to Community Health! I actually decided to change it a really long time ago but since I'm just finishing up my GE classes, it hasn't been a huge deal to change it on the school records..

Alright: Community Health. It's actually kind of crazy.. For such a long time, I thought I was pretty set on studying Dental Hygiene.. Then when I did Dental Assisting I realized I did NOT want to work on people's mouths all day, nor did I want to work in a dentist's office at all because I hate going to the dentist! So, I switched to Nutrition.. Definitely thought I was "for sure" on that one, too.. But.. With Nutrition, I'd have to go all the way through Chemistry.. Which I hate.. & I'm definitely INTERESTED in Nutrition, but I don't think I could ever say I'm passionate about it. Anyway, I didn't even realize what the Community Health major was until I talked to a girl at BYU who was just finishing up her degree in Public Health & she told me all about it.. & basically, I was hooked. It was exactly what I'd always wanted to do, I just never really realized there was a major for it.. I went home & did every bit of research I possibly could on it.. Then I realized it's a lot of what I did in Mexico while I was on the healthcare committee.. Which I absolutely loved.. DUH! Anyway, I'm proud to announce that I am changing my major for good! I'm really passionate about the whole idea of Community Health & even thinking about it gets me excited! ;)

Photobucket

Also, there is a Study Abroad program in Ghana for Community Health each summer for about a month.. If I could get a scholarship to cover the cost (or most of the cost), it would seriously be the best thing, ever. It's exactly what I want to do. I love the way things are finally coming together!

Okay, okay. One last thing.. I've decided to take summer classes. Before everybody freaks out (because who in the world wants to be in school all summer?!), let me explain! I'm going to take classes in blocks.. So, first block (May 9 - June 24) I'll only be in two classes, two days a week.. Second block (June 27 - August 12), I'll only be in one (or two, if I decide to) class, two days a week. Considering I will be working lots this summer, it'll be a way to keep me busy aside from work & I think I'll end up having a much more productive summer.. BUT.. It also doesn't take away from having a summer, because I'd only be in class on Tuesdays & Thursdays until 1:15. Everything else would be free. PLUS, I could most likely get a grant to pay for most, if not all, of my classes for the summer. & last but not least, taking classes this summer would mean finishing my GE classes & I could start studying things I actually WANT to study starting in the fall. Good idea? I think so.

Anyway, speaking of school.. I should be studying for my Biology test next week! Or making up assignments for Humanities! Or writing my English paper! Clearly, my priorities are in order.
